SignalScope · broadcast signal intelligence

Know every station is on air. At every site, every second.

SignalScope watches every FM, DAB and IP signal path across your whole estate. The moment a station goes quiet, it tells you, and it tells you exactly which link in the chain broke, with the audio to prove it.

  • Self-hosted, your data stays yours
  • Runs on a Raspberry Pi
  • Built by broadcast engineers

Silence costs listeners. Finding the fault shouldn't cost an hour.

When a station drops, every minute counts, and "something's wrong" isn't enough. SignalScope listens to every point in your signal path, from the studio output to what's actually coming off the transmitter. When audio disappears it pinpoints the first link that failed, saves a clip of the moment it happened, and tells the right people straight away.

  • Off-air, not just on-paper. It tunes your transmitters with an inexpensive RTL-SDR USB dongle, so you hear exactly what listeners hear.
  • Studio fault, STL fault or transmitter down? It tells you which, before you've picked up the phone.
  • One screen for every site. Studios, transmitters and remote racks, live, from any browser.
At every site Monitoring nodes

A Pi or PC at each studio and transmitter listens off air and on your IP feeds. It works from behind any firewall or 4G router; nothing to open up.

In the middle Your hub

Collects live levels five times a second from every node, models your broadcast chains, keeps 90 days of history and every fault clip.

Wherever you are You and your team

A live dashboard in any browser, instant alerts by e-mail, Teams, Pushover, webhook or PRTG, and a Morning Report in your inbox every morning.

Everything a broadcast engineer actually needs.

Every feature exists because it solved a real problem at a real station, usually at 3am.

Broadcast chain fault location

Model each station's signal path, branches included. When it fails, SignalScope names the first broken node and saves a clip from every point in the chain, so you can hear where the audio stopped.

FM and DAB, off air

Full RDS (PS, RadioText, PI, TP/TA, stereo), signal level and SNR on FM, with detection of a transmitter gone to static. DAB ensemble lock, SNR, bitrate and DLS for every service on the mux.

AI that knows your station's sound

Each stream learns what normal sounds like, then flags hiss, distortion, noise bursts, clipping and a dead channel on a stereo feed. It runs entirely on your own hardware, with no cloud and no internet needed.

Alerts that reach the right people

Silence, static, stalled inputs and chain faults go to e-mail, Microsoft Teams, Pushover, webhooks or PRTG, with the recovery when it comes back. A fault the hub can see is never just a red badge.

History, SLA and the Morning Report

90 days of levels, loudness (EBU R128) and silence for every stream, uptime per chain, and a plain-English Morning Report e-mailed every morning. Answer "what happened overnight?" before anyone asks.

Listen to any site, live

Click play on any input at any site and hear it in your browser, from a transmitter halfway across the country, even behind NAT or on a 4G link.

Built to stay up

Tuners run in their own service, so an update or restart never drops your off-air monitoring. Watchdogs catch stalled inputs, and every update is cryptographically signed and verified before it installs.

Ready for 4G transmitter sites

See exactly how much data each site uses, and get alerted the day it goes over budget, before a runaway stream eats a month of SIM allowance.

Plugins, one click away

Meter walls, studio boards, Zetta now-playing and log checking, FM scanning and web SDR, the Morning Report and more, installed from inside the app.

The SignalScope family

Monitoring, compliance and production, working together.

Each product stands on its own, and they're better together: Logger records what SignalScope monitors, and both share one browser interface.

SignalScope Logger

24/7 compliance recording, ready for OFCOM. Continuous capture from FM, IP streams, AES67/Livewire and sound cards, with a coverage dashboard, named legal hold, SHA-256 integrity checks, a full audit trail and instant clip export. When the regulator asks, you find it in seconds.

From one Pi to a national network

Start small, grow without starting again. A community station runs the lot on a Raspberry Pi and one dongle. A group adds a hub and a node per site. Self-hosted on Linux, macOS or Windows, with no per-seat traps.

More from Altivox

Tools for the whole station.

Beyond monitoring, we build the tools we wanted ourselves: for producing phone-ins, running a station around the clock, making imaging and editing audio fast.

Altivox Razor · hosted

Phone-ins, broadcast-ready in minutes.

Upload an unedited call or interview and Razor sends back a file ready for air: ums, ahs, false starts and dead air gone, levels balanced to broadcast spec. It's speaker-aware, so a caller's setup and a presenter's punchline stay intact. Phone numbers and addresses are found and removed before anything is published.

Altivox AIR

A whole radio station that never sleeps.

AIR puts AI presenters, a newsroom, sport, weather and travel desks on top of your music playout. Links are written for the songs actually playing, bulletins are backtimed to land on the hour, and every voice keeps its own style and slot. And it idles when nobody's tuned in, so it only works when it's heard.

Hear it for yourself: a breakfast show, a Top 10 countdown, news, sport, features and travel, all recorded off air on Nova One, with the songs trimmed to their tops and tails.

Cutroom · free alpha

The fast audio editor, back.

Cutroom is a free audio editor in the classic layout every radio producer knows, with the shortcuts already in your fingers. It's built for cutting phone calls and speech fast, edits a three-hour show as quickly as a ten-second clip, and records straight to disk. Its Auto Edit listens to a phone-in and finds the ums, the repeats and the dead air for you to review, and since 0.4 it takes the breaths and retakes out of a voice-over too, all on your own computer.

Studio-quality contribution, from a laptop.

Altivox Codec is a desktop SIP codec for outside broadcasts, remote presenters and guest contributors. A mixer, hot keys and talkback mean the contributor needs nothing else on the desk.

  • Opus stereo, G.722, G.711 and linear PCM, to any EBU Tech 3326 codec or SIP account
  • Altivox Gateway: calls get through any router or firewall, with no ports to open

About Altivox

Made in the rack room, not from a spec sheet.

Altivox is a broadcast technology company built by working broadcast engineers. Every product started as a fix for a real problem at a real station, then got good enough that other stations wanted it too.

We build software the way engineers want it: dependable, transparent, and easy to run on the hardware you already have. No mandatory cloud, no lock-in, and a real engineer at the other end of the e-mail.

Reliability first

Off-air time costs reputation and revenue. Everything we ship runs unattended, recovers by itself and tells you the moment something's wrong.

Yours to own

Self-hosted on your own hardware. Your signal data, recordings and history never leave your building unless you want them to.

Runs anywhere

From a Raspberry Pi at a hilltop transmitter to a rack server at the hub: Linux, macOS and Windows.

Always improving

Frequent, signed updates shaped by the stations using them. Tell us what hurts and it's usually next on the list.
